Richard Pyrah retiring from playing but retained in a coaching capacity.

A loyal custodian to the club. Though mostly played limited overs matches, Pyrah did have the capability to bat in red ball cricket and might have made the breakthrough during 2011, had it not been for an untimely injury.

Most remembered for his County Championship century against Lancashire in 2011, coming in at 45-8 and hit Tom Smith for six first ball after he bowled 5 overs, 5 maidens. Putting on a 154 run stand for the 9th wicket with Ryan Sidebottom, just enough time for Tim Bresnan to join the Yorkshire game after released by England at Lords that morning. Avoiding the follow on was loudly celebrated by the rowdy Yorkshire members, Ryan Sidebottom was in dismay after being given out LBW by Chapple who felt he was on course for a century, Tim Bresnan received a heroes welcome as he strolled on to bat and held up one end, then Pyrah drove Gary Keedy down the ground for four to reach a thoroughly deserved century, cue wild and raucuous celebrations.

Bit of inconsistency shown by ECB regarding player availability in the 2 relegation battles. Taylor and Hales pulled from Notts team v Hants yet Bairstow,Rashid and Plunkett available for Yorks v Sussex.

Pretty fair that. Hales scores 167 vs us, doesnt play vs Hampshire...... Taylor scores 291 and 57 not out vs us, not playing vs Hampshire. Yorkshire without internationals play Hampshire last week, this week welcome back the boys, Sussex is in town. Not sure why some players are rested and others or not, other than someone having an interest in the last games of the CC. And people complain that the county championship is dying, look no further than this for a reason. It really is an abomination of a competition.

So we might get relegated based on the whimsy of the ECB's rather nontransparent level of thinking. Could you imagine a relegation game in the Premier League where England called up two star players from one team playing in a deciding game, only to inexplicably released players to another team???

Well no, I couldnt at all.... but then the Premier League is a world class competition, not some irrelevant piece of turd played out to a few sleeping old men in deck-chairs.

Nothing is killing CC cricket, its committing suicide.
