And hopefully this time, the festivities dont involve drink driving, drug taking, escaping the police, or the 0450 tube departing South Woodford station.

Own players rather than transitory buy-ins, I meant to say.

And it looks like Sussex have gone a long way to avoiding the drop. Goodbye Worcs. The usual sympathy for a yo-yo club is offset a little with them having been promoted on the back of peak-throw Ajmal. Plus there are no Worcs fans on the board to be sympathetic towards.

congratulations to Surrey. For once they haven't 'done a Surrey' by buying in shed loads of big earners (although they still have plenty of those, of course), but by promoting quite an exciting looking crop of young players. If the youth can make the step up needed for div 1, then they might not just go straight back down again

Yorks v Middx and Hants v Somerset make for a pair of interesting games starting on Wednesday. Durham v Notts a bit of a dead rubber.

Interesting. Horton would have been on my Durham list, must be taking a big pay cut?

Leicester probably have more money to spend than we do.

Of course... they must be.

congratulations to them too. They've pretty much dominated div 2. The challenge will be to stay up and not drop straight back down again. Very handy having Chappie around as coach, and to fill in when necessary for the injured Tom Smith

I wonder if Yorks can reach 300 points?

Now that would be a record that would stick around for decades, never mind years........ perhaps even generations.

It would be very cool if they could do it. It has been most impressive the way they have taken misfits and sicknotes from all around the country and turned them into champions

That's an interesting point, what is the most points scored for a County Championship title winning side?

Weather permitting I think it can be done. Back in April where the ECB were happy to ban Andrew Gale and call up half the Yorkshire squad for their selfish gain this feat would be unthought of.
"Stats are there to be broken" Dominic Cork
"They took all our players away, banned our captain and we still came away with a ten-wicket victory" Jason Gillespie
"You won't get anywhere slouching about half out of bed" Geoffrey Boycott

16 wickets @ 55 for Ajmal post remodelled action..... incredible how he was able to carve a very good international career out throwing for so long, with his action being looked at, he isnt even a FC standard.

Somerset v Sussex could still have an impact on the drop, but I think its a home game, and Sussex have finally found some form.
