They could easily hang on here with this type of bowling.

Ridiculous that this was only a two test series but 1-1 probably a fair result. It's been quite rewarding for England imo-Lyth looks assured as opener, Cook seems back to his best, Stokes established at 6 with Buttler at 7, Wood very impressive.

Anderson and Broad not firing on all cylinders but no reason why they can't hit top form for the Ashes.

Bell, Ballance and Moeen Ali the major concerns but Bell has proven himself to be a quality player for many years so has credit in the bank and his experience will be vital in the Ashes, Ballance's fantastic start to his test career means he is probably safe for now. Not sure about Moeen but are there any obvious alternatives given that England don't seem keen on Rashid as a test bowler.

New Zealand played the better cricket, Cook has to start taking some responsibility for the poor performance of his side. At least we have an interesting looking ODI squad.

Said before the WC that Morgan must be lucky to have been captain in ODI WC given that he would not get into any major ODI team even as a player considering his form over one year before WC. No wonder England carried a passenger who had to play each and every match due to being a captain and eventually lost given bad selection. It's surprising he is getting free pass for this ODI series as well. Shouldn't he be allowed comeback only if he strikes very good form in domestic tournament. His selection is totally baffling and the way they treat their captains (Cook and Morgan in spite of their prolonged failure) are ensuring in form players are wasted because of passengers. Yes, he might score a 100 but does he actually deserves the place given his prolonged bad patch.

In last 12 months - 21 innings @19.23 with SR 70 and he gets captaincy. What a performance criteria to pick the captain or a player. Even PCB selectors would be feeling proud with some of their selections. Even Roger Binny's picks look brilliant now !!
