"You have to speculate to accumulate" is clearly not an expression in the Yorkshire vocabulary. It won't be England calls that prevent the Yorkies retaining the championship but their own negativity.

Historically Somerset have knocked off big targets against Yorkshire at Taunton with relative ease.

A draw would put Yorkshire 12pts behind Durham with a game in hand, better than being 17pts behind and potentially on the back foot when both sides meet in late June.

And a win would put them 1pt behind with a game in hand. Yorkshire are the strongest team in the CC imo and have been now for the last 3 years. So I'll say they're conservative rather than negative. It boils down to risking 5 pts to gain 16pts.

Somerset aren't exactly going for the last two wickets themselves, last 27 overs they have bowled part-time options.

Fair point, but I meant a bit more than just this morning!

I thought Somerset and Worcs would be our main rivals for relegation, but it seems not.

Looks like the way things are going right now Notts and Hants are favourites for relegation.

I keep waiting for Notts to improve, still think they will find form at some point but if it doesn't happen soon they will be in huge trouble-probably need 3 wins to be safe.

I think a lot of teams are struggling to make runs this season, the conditions seem to be favouring bowling a lot, and teams with weaknesses in exploiting bowling conditions are being beaten.

Notts needed all their batsman to fire, as their bowling isn't very strong. It hasn't happened yet apart from Hales and Taylor on debut.

Still, that batting line up looks damn strong.... all it needs is one or two to find form, and they will be scoring 700 every game

Gidman finally gets bat on ball, and Wood and him are having a decent slog to push the score to acceptable levels

Conceed a 100 to the number 10.... openers make no contribution. The guide to making a winning position a losing one in one hour from Sussex's cricket team.

I am getting seriously fed up with our top 6 at the moment. They have been utterly crap this year

Brought in the wrong type of players, too many batsmen and not enough bowlers.

Don't understand the logic of signing Greg Smith from Leicestershire for his opening batting performances last year, yet play him at 7.
