Considering all we hear at the moment about Dizzy Gillespie is what a great coach he is, its pretty damning on his part that he utterly failed to put Robinson in the position to deliver on his quite evident all round talent.

It seems that Dizzy let arguably one of the biggest talents in county cricket fall through his fingers.

Not that I care much.... seems like Sussex have found a real gem at Yorkshire's expense.

Released for disciplinary reasons, not sure if the details ever came out. Chances are though that he'd have been retained had he been a more senior player.

None of the reasons were serious and one paper reported that it was for "...things such as timekeeping". Gillespie has shown that he doesn't appreciate slackers by dropping Plunkett.

The twist if Dizzy gets the job and Farbrace stays on....Robinson is Farbrace's stepson.

That will be interesting!
If Robinson was sacked for minor breaches of discipline it was a poor decision. He's clearly a fine player-although Twitter reports from the current game suggest a poor pitch.

Indeed, its seems to be acknowledged that his problems were of a minor concern, based mainly on his attitude to not being picked and been sent to net sessions instead, which he was less than punctual in attending on time.

I find that a worrying attitude for a potential candidate for the national team. Surely if you have talent like this, you find a way to make it work, and you give him an opportunity? The fact he hadnt debuted in county matches at Yorkshire was surprising, the board at Sussex suggest that he is bowling at the level of a top county performer already.... and his figures wouldnt disagree.

Time will, of course, tell just how good and reliable he is but on current evidence he's having the sort of form that the England selectors would find it hard to ignore.

Small matter of where Ollie Robinson would fit in a Yorkshire side full of talented and high quality players.

He was overlooked last year in place of Carver and Pryah. And Sidebottom is 38 now, surely he should have been asked to stand aside/

Jack Leaning brings up his second County Championship century of the season (and career) :clap

At this rate he may end up with the England Lions in the non too distant future.
