Unfortunately it really wasn't difficult to predict. Ergo my lack of being there (amongst other reasons).

13 overs to get 3 wickets. Probably a fair chance with the batsmen having to start again in the morning.

Not sure if Jim can bat, dived to stop a ball when it was already gone for 4 and about 5 inches from the boundary board ( right in front of me ), sounded like a gunshot and he was holding his knee and punching the floor before limping off.

Andre Adams was sub fielder and unofficially captained.

Sounds like they were both nailed. Both trapped on the crease.

Although it does sound like we were very unhappy with the umpires for not giving a couple of those close Sussex LBWs.

Disastrous collapse and this is supposed to be one of our easier games.

Not so sure. Worcs, Somerset and probably Middlesex are all weaker than Sussex in my book. As are Yorkshire when they have their five players missing for international duty like they do at present. And, on paper, we're without two of our main three Championship seamers.

So long as this doesn't turn into something painful like 120 all out (or worse!), then I still have a lot of faith of us saving this game. The weather is set fair for the rest of the week, the Rose Bowl pitch will inevitably stay set fair for the rest of the week, and Sussex don't have a proper spinner in their mits.

We've totally buggered up getting batting bonus points though, and come the end of the season every point may be important.

Wood doing to his best to support my belief that in the unlikely event that we do lose Vince to England this summer, then I'd rather we played the extra bowler (given that lack of any real batting replacements). Berg and Wood are just about good enough between them to bat 7 and 8 for a few games.

He's also doing his best to give Benks and Adams a headache prior to the next game. Going into today, him and Briggs were both for the chop if Bird and Andre Adams were both fit for next week. But first Briggs takes three (more) wickets this morning, and now Wood scores these runs.

Hopefully Sussex will bowl Magoffin and Shahzad into the ground (and we'll hang around to allow that to happen!). Given that there is very little chance of us avoiding the follow on, Sussex would either be faced with batting again or going in with tired bowlers (ergo my point earlier about no front line spinner. Bowling in successive innings with a seam-based attack is not easy, especially here). Either option is good for us.

100 partnership, well done lads. Just goes to show that the collapse wasn't to do with the pitch.
