Siddle in and no Pattinson or Cummins feels a surprise.

I had a hunch that Fawad would come (taking a lot of wickets works like that), bit of a shame O'Keefe has been kicked out without getting a reasonable chance.

Nevill's my boy.

My guess that Watson wouldn't come couldn't have been more wrong.

Who is the reserve opener? There's a lot of middle order cover.

Too good for England.

Watson maybe to return to opening in an emergency?

Watson feels a risk against the swinging ball in England- he had a poor tour last time. Getting out lbw and referring every one.

Didn't know Marsh had opened.

Has opened plenty of times in limited overs matches so I guess he could do a job if needed.

Don't know if Shaun has opened in tests but he's batted at 3 so probably could move up to open if required.
I haven't really been following the Shield games- how did Matthew Wade get on, thought he might have been reserve keeper.

Marsh has batted 3,4 & 5 for Aus, but mainly at three.

As I had Nevill in my FL side, I can testify he had a great season with the bat.

Just had a look at his average this season- almost 80 so he made a formidable case for selection.

Wade averaged 57.2.

As cricinfo points out, there's no Maxwell or Faulkner. Wasn't really expecting them though.

Australia have won 5 world cups and in three of them, the man of the match has been a Launcestonian. First Boon in '87, Ponting in '03 and now Faulkner.

Now country can make the same claim, let alone a piddly little city like Lonnie.

Yet they decided they didn't need a Tasmanian in the Ashes squad. :dunno

That squad has to go to West Indies first, so it's possible the squad might be tweaked or there be injuries. It changed a lot in 2013, though that might have been because of Lehmann just starting the job. With Jackson Bird in England, we might still see him running in during the Ashes.

Seems odd that Faulkner won't be on the India A tour.

First Ashes series since 1982 not to have a Tasmanian.

Might as well support England, with the selectors being anti-Tasmania.
