What I see is a man who is desperately frustrated with and underperforming England side and the ECB being a laughing stock, and a man who is finding out just how hard it is to force change at the ECB.

Most of that will be done behind the scenes. What we've seen have been PR gaffs.

I wouldn't write it off so easily. When I look around the cricket polis of England I see a significant body who are disenfranchised and disengaged with the personal politics of Downton and Whitaker, the abject performance of the ODI side, the humiliating losses to Australia and Sri Lanka, and accompanying denial. If Graves is to rebuild confidence in the ECB then he has to put up this facade of anger and ultimatum. Whether or not we'll see any real change remains to be seen, but, passion is a welcome distraction from the hubristic corperation we've been emburdened with for the past 12 months.

I can go along with that. But calling England's next opponents mediocre, and breaking KP's possible return to the fold with a rather sarcastic comment in a radio interview, aren't, to me, clever ways to go about anything. If he wants to provoke passion, while maintaining confidence in his competence, I think he has to do better. The stuff so far I'd expect from Downton.

I don't see what's wrong with telling the truth. The West Indies, sans IPL players, are a mediocre side and anything other than a complete victory should raise serious questions, though those questions should have been raised already. I think the way he's handled KP has been a breath of fresh air, he's not promised anything but has stayed away from the politics that have seen the ECB become somewhat of a laughing stock.

So far, so good in my book.

Future ECB supremo Colin Graves turns Testcutter with a promise to push hard for four day Tests. Graves says the format is dying and no one watches the last day anyway.

Cans of Stella are four for £4, and economy burgers now contain beef.

Graves is starting to become a little power happy. He needs to quieten down and get the ECB in order.

Funny thing is Graves has no power to even change it since it needs BCCI and Giles Clarkes approval and it is very likely BCCI will reject the proposals anyway since 4 day test and 105 overs isn't gonna work in Sub C, UAE and even Australia.
