Football league 2014/15

Looking not too dissimilar to our Championship promotion season. For the first 65% - 75% of the season, it was pretty much neck and neck between us, West Ham, Cardiff and Boro. And then as Cardiff and Boro started to fall off the pace, Reading just went on a wonder run and burst past everyone.

Derby will win the league, imo of course.

I know you reckon Derby and Sussex thinks Norwich. As someone who has seen most of the top teams I don't have a clue. If Norwich keep this run going then they could clinch it, but I still reckon there's going to be plenty of twists and turns before the end of the season, and I still don't rule us out even with our recent dip in form. Suffice to say its all set up for one or two teams to go on the traditional end of season run which will clinch themselves automatic promotion. And then of course they've got a season of losing more games than they win to look forward to!

See your boys held on for victory today Finchy, cementing your spot in the automatic promotion places for the time being.

I dont actually think a traditional run will be the deciding factor, and by that I mean one team suddenly going on a surge.....

I think it will go to the team that is able to continue winning half their matches, draw the other half, lose one or two in every six matches.... No one has stormed away with it, and 3 wins is all it takes to transform your season in this league, even at the very top.

I think Norwich are the best one match team, but I will agree, I think Derby are the next best shout.... Ipswich's form is killing them since Christmas, and they have a tough away day at Carrow Road next week....

And I am sorry Budget, but I think Bournemouth will drop into the playoffs.... can see Brentford failing away from the playoffs too...

Own goal by Arthur Boruc for the second Brentford goal I understand. I reckon he's close to being dropped due to some very shaky recent performances. Not commanding his area, doesn't talk to his defenders and some poor decision making could lead to a recall for Camp.

You get spells like that from Artur. But then suddenly he'll pull off a couple of worldie's, and be absolutely fine (distribution aside) for a run of matches.

He had a decent second half by all accounts, its just in recent weeks when I'm sat behind him he doesn't command his goal the way he did when he first arrived, and doesn't communicate with his defenders enough for me.

Probably need a couple of loan signings to freshen up things after we did nothing in the transfer window even with money avaialable, but we won't sign anybody unless they are absolutely the right fit, which I'm happy about.

Just watched 'The Football League' show. Brentford were good for the win, despite what Howe said. Boruc made some decent second half saves, after the free-kick howler.

No need to apologise Sussex I'd take a play off place, represents a significant improvement from last season, and I get at least two more games to enjoy with the possibility of a Wembley appearance.

Even if we don't go up this season we will have made a significant improvement from last and the club will remain in a relatively healthy position on and off the pitch to make another push next. Although it would be fantastic to be in the Premier League I am under no illusion that it would be anything other than a struggle to survive. While it would be nice to see all the big teams come to Dean Court (if I can get any tickets) I don't enjoy watching my team get played off the park, so part of me isn't bothered if we fail to get promotion.

I've just watched that programme, the highlights were a bit lopsided in that most of the chances they showed were Brentford's in the last ten minutes of the game where we were pushing forward to try and get an equaliser. They didn't even bother showing the one on one that Fraser had with the keeper when it was 2-1. Eddie Howes assessment was pretty fair albeit slightly biased but we did have 60% possession and more shots on goal than Brentford in the game, so a draw wouldn't have been an unfair result.

I guess that the BBC were sucking up to Mr Warburton who was the guest in the studio, so made sure the highlights were heavily in Brentford's favour!

I can understand that, I became disenfranchised from BHA because of the same thing. Interesting that no one was interested in the team until they got some money and a new stadium (which ironically was delayed for years because the people of Brighton never wanted it and had no end of fights from real fans to get judicial reviews and stuff in place).... cant remember many of my friends that now facebook about Brighton going to Gillingham to watch them, or going to watch them struggle on a January rainy and cold evening in an uncovered stand put up around a local leisure centre field..... I loved those days though, proper football for proper fans.

I think Bournemouth are testing the quality of the depth of their squad, and understandably they may struggle to maintain an automatic push. Takes more than a year to build a squad capable of a championship title push, but the basis is there for the future, and they could still prove me wrong and go up in 1st or 2nd.

When I have seen them though, or any team under Howe, it does seem that he loves to be positive..... maybe a little too positive at times, but especially away from home, it works so well to catch teams off their guard.

But against the top teams at the moment it isnt working. In recent promotion matches they lost to Norwich (conceded 2), drew with Derby (conceded 2) lost to Brentford (conceded 3), drew with Ipswich (Conceded 2) and drew with Middlesbrough (0-0)...... three pointsin five matches, giving points to teams around or losing the opportunity of six pointers is not good, and they need to play a bit more tight, the only team they have beaten at the top in recent months is Watford (2-0) which doesnt help. They do crush teams at the bottom though, and as I said above, thats enough in this league to pick up points regularly.

I mean having reviewed the matches to play, Bournemouth actually have a better chance than I thought of winning it though.... only two matches against the current top 8, both at home (Wolves and Midlesbrough), a couplle vs Forest and Blackburn (former home, other away) that could go either way, the rest are very winnable.

I didn't know the story of the match, which can be a problem when watching highlights. Those stats don't tie up to what I saw, but it can be mis-leading.

The amazing thing about this year is that Derby arent that much in front, but are only a win away from the playoff mark for last years team......

Every team in the top 7 has a better points to goal ratio then when Hull went up automatically two years ago....

You have to think a couple of teams are going to give? Ipswich have creeked recently, and have Norwich away on Sunday... Bournemouth are creeking a little and have some tough games ahead....
