Chelsea win it in the last minute

that was the type of fixture man city needed them to drop points if they have any chance of bridging the gap

Yes, not sure which side I would rather see not take the title. I suppose I'm a little more inclined to want Chelsea do it being a Man U fan.

I don't particularly like either team as well , man city would be the lesser of two evils for me tho as I really cant stand mourinho

Watching match of the day and Sergio Aguero's handball was not nice to watch.

More should be said about it, mainly because of the way he confronted the ref afterwords.

Aston Villa could have Mourinho, but until they put more money into the club and help the manager rehaul it, they wont get anywhere.

Over the years other teams have managed to stay out of the relegation zone with less or the same money. Plus they're playing negative Football to boot. Villa are obviously hoping a new manager will give their team a kick up the bum, at least temporarily.

Cant compare the era's I am afraid, in no other league, at no other time in the history of the game, has the lower league teams been so awash with cash, so what other teams competed with regardless of their own spending is not comparable. The 2013 season was the kick in off a 200- 300% increase in TV revenue I believe, so spare cash was everywhere in the league.

To show this in evidence, since the start of 2013/14 season, the three teams relegated from the Premier League (Norwich/Fulham and Cardiff) have bought six single players together that exceed Villa's total spend this season, and one of those players was bought after relegation.... they all went down. Cardiff spent about 30-35million, Norwich abut 25 million and Fulham spent about £30million taken from the 12 month period (ie, to include Ross McCormack's transfer)....

Will spent about 6-7 million in the last two years, each year. Simply not comparable, because Villas also spent money on younger League One or League two players which added nothing to the wage budget, while Norwich were giving Van Wolfswinkel a huge contract to prise him away from other clubs.....

The only team this year that spent less? Burnley, one place below them.... Leicester at the bottom have two players that they bought, both of which exceed Aston Villas last two year budget

The stat that I seen a few days ago that was most surprising was, even before the new tv deal, Burnley's expected revenue this year will be expected to be larger than Ajax and AC Milan, I think 2 of the most 4 successful European clubs in history......

We are at a stage where the lower league Premier League clubs can attract any player away from a club, with the sole exception being the very elite clubs in the elite leagues.

We could see Bournemouth prizing Marco Reus away from Dortmund next year

They would be if they managed it properly. Instead players will eventually be paid £1m per week, Agents will take an even larger slice of cash out of the game and the ones that get relegated will probably sink faster than a stone in water. It's just a shame that a decent wedge can't go to the lower leagues.

just noticed that with lambert getting sacked there are no Scottish managers in the premier league for the first time ever

we need the MacRooney rule ! ;)

Yes, I remember Sky Sports News saying that.

I guess it's in keeping with the minimal number of Scottish players in the Premier League!
