Presume James Taylor is injured...

The squads don't contain anyone in the England squad for the Sri Lanka series, which is why Taylor isn't there. Squads are subject to change as well, presumably based on Sri Lanka and EPP performances.

That was a bit tongue in cheek, because Taylor is always in the Lions squad... I was up on it this time.

The bowlers won't be playing any matches, just strength and conditioning at Potchefstroom. Good to see Ottis Gibson helping with the coaching.

Ah sorry, had just been on the cricinfo article where there were a few people having a (real) moan about his supposed omission.

I think you're both talking about different things. There's a group going to SA in December this year including Broad, the Lions go in January.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

Just checked the Lions squad. No Kerrigan for FC? Presumably Riley and Rashid will go to the Caribbean then?

Moeen over Hales at the top of the order...???

In OZ for me Hales has to open...surely moeen at the top is purely for courses in Sri Lanka, where we need the extra spinner..??

I know its all too easy to be negative about England, and I am as guilty of that as anyone, but looking at the current world cup squad and the lions squad in SA there has to be reason to be optimistic about our batting at least

hales, roy, lees, ballance, stokes, root, taylor, buttler, bairstow, billings and vince all 25 or younger

obviously not all of them will make it, there aren't spots for all of them, but that's a pretty good depth of talent at least

Most of them got whitewashed to Australia a couple of years ago, so I'm keeping my expectations in check. But an interesting array of players. I wonder if they are Test players or more ODI selections.
