Sharma in.the same sentence as the other 2? The innings other day was the first time he had played an innings of substance in a Southern.Hemisphere country.

Well, he's not as consistent as Kholi, though just as good on his day, but is Dhoni passed his best?

india were in a great position against Australia the other day , not very often will you see them only score 80 runs from the last 15 overs with 6 wickets in hand , and Australia only won with one over to spare

also think we will see dhoni chase more if he has the choice come the important matches

Well, Sunday was the first time he had "his day" in these conditions. And no, I'd never write off Dhoni in ODIs. He was in a prolonged lean patch in ODIs prior to the 2011 final too. Big match player and an ATG in ODIs.

Most of our defeats in SA and NZ last year came while chasing.

No one is fooled by this defeat. India had a bad day at the office and England just happened to be there to take advantage.

Today's England's win was a very comprehensive one. It is evident in the margin of 9 wickets and 22 overs in hand.

I agree the context that India is not going to score 153 every day.

Definitely an all time great, but we all have a sell by date. I'm not saying he's had his, btw. As for Sharma, he will, like most openers in ODI's, come off now and again.

he is still only 27 and no reason to think he cant learn and improve as a player , a fact you seem to completely ignore at times with players you don't rate. the only country he has a terrible record in is SA , he averages 35 in Australia and 38 in NZ, and again no reason to think they wont improve, at 27 hes not even in his prime as a batsman tbh. I doubt anyone can seriously doubt his ability, the innings he played the other day against a pretty strong Australian bowling lineup was impressive. some people just take longer to develop and live up to their potential, I would give the guy a break if I was you and enjoy what he can do, I would love to have someone of his ability in our side.

Rohit is the only player to have two 200+ scores. One can say it is in Asia, but it was not the only match played in Asia. Must be around hundreds of ODI matches played here but nobody played innings like Rohit so far in cricket history.

Dhoni is not past his best imo. His form may desert him during WC but he will regain it in some other ODi series. More often than not he will be one of the top few ODI players around for next few years imo.

exactly adi

the way those achievements seem to be disregarded because they were on "flat pitches" in india annoys me , if it was so easy and didn't mean something then why isn't everyone doing it

Yes, if the wicket is flat then why are not other batsmen scoring 200+. And there are four openers in one match batting on same wicket. So the number of innings batted by 4 openers * matches played on flat wickets around world is in thousands. Still only 4 or 5 scores of 200+ and Rohit has two of those records with scores of 209 and 264. Ordinary batsmen do not do that.

His fitness is awesome. Wonder if he gives up keeping in few years he can still have stamina etc to compromise for the ageing factor. So there are some options for him to compensate for the aeging factor.

Comfortable win thanks to decent knocks from Bell and Taylor. Obviously a really good bowling performance as well.

What we need to see is England make or chase down 300+ against a decent side.

I don't remember you saying the same about Bopara a few years back. Another "talented" player, whose temperament fails him.

At no point did I say its "easy". I just fail to see how that is relevant for a World Cup in Australia/NZ. England's success with the ball in low scoring matches at home propelled them to the no.1 ranking in the world a couple of years ago and it was impressive. Would that have made them a contender for a WC in Asia?
