Football league 2014/15

The beautiful game!

Found this as well -

Still only in his early 50s, Hobson – scrapman, boxing promoter and property developer – has homes on Jersey, in Tenerife and Sheffield.

He and two business partners in ST Developments own hotels, apartments and Jersey holiday homes worth well over £40m.

Not bad for a kid who left school at 15 and drove with his mother to buy crockery to sell on a local market stall.

Boxing, however, has been his passport to fame.

“I had always loved boxing despite being a thin, puny kid, and my dad put up a punchbag for me in the garage,” smiled Dennis. “I had a few fights as an amateur with Richmond ABC in Sheffield. There wasn’t really any boxing history in the family, though my dad must have had 1,000 street fights!

“When I lived at Woodhouse the local gym got knocked down so people started coming to my house. I eventually got a place for £15 a week and opened a gym there.

Great response after the league cup exit mideweek. According to the manager our best performance of the season. Lee Clark can't enjoy playing us, seen his team concede 14 goals to us in two home games. Top at Christmas, unreal, sold our top goal scorer and have notched 50 goals in the league, unreal. Just enjoying it while it lasts, because this division is so unpredictable, and who knows whats round the next corner.

I'd heard the rumour about Ched Evans yesterday and hoped it was just message board talk.

After the good news this week it's all going to go pear shaped again.

A game of two halves at Valley Parade - 1st half a bit one pace with Bradford easing into the game and Scunthorpe difficult to break down, though they had a goal ruled out from a corner for an infringement. Then City took the lead with a cultured edge of the box strike from centre back Rory McArdle.

Not sure what Mark Robins said in the half time team talk but it was virtually all Scunthorpe in the 2nd half, ripped Bradford to shreds and had another goal ruled out for off-side. Thought to myself there was more chance of Alastair Cook being re-instated as England ODI captain than Scunthorpe not scoring today. There was one moment in the game where Gary McSheffrey beat the offside trip and got in a clinical scoring opposition, cue a moments silence in anticipation of an equaliser, then Jordan Pickford plucked out a worldie of a fingertip save that just went over the bar for a corner.

Scunthorpe kept on persisting and duly got their rewards with an injury time equaliser, was rather frustrating but not surprising because the Iron deserved no less.

"They took all our players away, banned our captain and we still came away with a ten-wicket victory" Jason Gillespie

Did you manage to break the Christmas jumper record?

Would you change your tune if he scores 15 goals and saves you from the drop?

The problem is not so much him but the baggage he brings. Look at what happened when he trained at Sheff Utd. After a great week with the new owners we could do without this kind of publicity.

You're right, but he might slip under the radar slightly with all the other issues and changes at the club right now.

But as you have confirmed Hartlepool have decided not to sign. Looks like he's gonna have to look non league now.

Just found out that the BBC have pulled the plug on local highlights/magazine show Late Kick Off

Gutted is not the word. Late Kick Off did some good investigative journalism on footballing affairs and all local football league clubs got an equal level of decent coverage.

The unbeaten run continues with another fine away win for Bradford at a tricky venue. This time at Highbury where Fleetwood have only lost three games at home in 2014 before today. An added bonus is other results in League One have gone entirely our way and City are in 5th place.
