Was secretly hoping Essex would pull off a late charge for an excuse of an overnight stay in Chelmsford.

Typical Hampshire - they go into their final match & will either finish Champions or 3rd! Fortunately it was the former!
Fantastic late run by Essex & they were one match away from promotion themselves.
When Hants faltered earlier in the season they had a record of won 4 Lost 1 while Worcs were Won 7 Lost 0.
Now it is Hants Won 7 Lost 1 while Worcs were Won 8 Lost 3 & if they hadn't narrowly beaten Surrey in the game that gave them promotion it could have been Won 7 Lost 4!!!

Worcester won't last 5 minutes in the first div. They only just managed to fall over the line for promotion after losing the 40 degree man. I doubt he'll be back any time soon, and with virtually no test cricket before next season, there is very little opportunity for Moeen to lose his test slot

Of course I said that about Stokes back in January, and he managed to prove me wrong. I have a feeling that Moeen won't be anything like as daft as Stokes was

You're been unduly gloomy, aidan, I think. Lancs can still do this. Middlesex are in blocking mode, so they certainly think Lancs are in with a chance and are just trying everything they can to take time out of the game.

If Middlesex stay up, it will have been by the skin of their teeth. It's a credit to Lancs, that after an awful season, and despite looking dead and buried, they've made it to the last day of the season with a chance of staying up

I felt they had a chance with that wicket this morning but then the rain has arrived. Not sure how much of a delay this will cause but it would be a shame if the weather decided the outcome.

And what the H is going on in NHants v Sussex-Sussex 390 ahead,50 odd overs remaining and they're still batting?
