Yeah. I'm still going under the assumption that he'll miss out. After yesterday's debacle, I wouldn't be surprised if we've just got desperate and are praying for a miracle.

But at least it's better than the flat out "he's injured for Sunday" that we had at the toss yesterday.

I'd imagine if he was going to play, we'd keep quiet and surprise them...but I am still hopeful, he will 100% want to play, we will 100% want him to play, I'd imagine it comes down to Cricket Australia.

Stating the obvious, but it's also very important that Carberry is fit. Trent Bridge is usually relatively flat, and often seems to have one very short boundary when they do live TV t20 games.

And then there's Hales, Lumb, Wessels, Taylor and Samit. Supported by Read, Franklin and Mullaney if needed. I'm not sure a batting line-up of ours missing Carberry and Maxwell (and Macca!) would have any chance of living with those five.

(And for the spectacle I think that would be a shame, because I think we both have very good, and relatively similar, bowling attacks. Gurney and Wood with their different left arm actions. Fletcher and Abbott with their yorkers at the death. Mullaney and Coles offering no pace to work with outside of the powerplays. Briggs and Samit darting in quick, tight spin. It's only Shahzad and Smith/Dawson that can't be compared in any way).

I assume it will be a simple Maxwell/Carberry if only one is fit but if both are fit then again comes the question of who you drop.

The only two I can see going are Dawson or Ervine, but Ervine appears to have picked up a little bit of form with the bat recently so unofortunately I could see Dawson going, especially with the amount of bowling we already have. It's quite bemusing now to think somehow Gatting slotted into that lineup at the start of the season.

Bizarre. Despite openly stating that neither Maxwell nor Carberry are certain to have recovered form their injuries, we still only name a 12 man squad.

Last thing we want is for them both to fail fitness tests tomorrow morning, and an Alsop suddenly again finds themselves thrown in at the moment from nowhere.

Depressing watching Surrey destroy Worcs with ball and now with bat, in the knowledge that had it not been for one lucky Ansari single it would have been us at home to Worcs.

Instead we get away to Notts.

If Carbs is unfit, I'd like to see us do something radical like open with Coles, means Adams may not get a bat if it comes off, as others will keep getting promoted, but might be worth a risk.

Also with Maxwell being a serious doubt, why the hell is Rimmington not in the squad ??

He went back to Australia a while ago.

White has confirmed though that we may look to get him back for a longer period in future seasons. He also says that we're looking to get someone in to replace Abbott and Maxwell for the remainder of the season, but it's proving difficult.

And any way, with Abbott, Wood, Coles, Briggs, Smith and potentially Dawson, I don't think we'd need Rimmington's bowling too.

It wasn't a case of us "needing his bowling" so much as fear we'd only have 12 players.
