Gone are the days where 270 is a real decent one-day score (not that anyone has told England).

Lancs making a worse fist of their run-chase than we did. When we play each tomorrow (presumably on this same wicket?), I think whichever captain wins the toss might just decide to bat first.

We're fortunate to run into a Buttler-less Lancs. (Though it's only fair, as last season they ran into a Carberry-Vince-Briggs-less Hampshire)

Carbs has a bruised hand, Tommo replaces him.

Presumably Adams will open with everyone moving up a slot.

Be interesting if the plan was always to bring Tommo in for a batsman (presumably not for Carberry though if it was, either Ervine or Dawson maybe).

Off topic, but how many players have Southampton sold, and how much money have they made?

And how do Saints fans feel about that?

Lambert for £4m.

Lallana for £25m (but due to a sell-on clause to B'mouth, we only received £18m - £19m).

Shaw for £27m, potentially rising to £31m.

Lovren to shortly leave for around £20m.

Chambers to shortly leave for anything between £11m (plus add ons) and £18m, depending on what you read.

Schneiderlin (c£25m), Rodriguez (c£20m), Fonte (c£4m) are all linked away.

So long as we reinvest in decent players, I'm happy. I support Southampton, not individual players. I'd rather have XI guys who want to play for the shirt please. Which is why, out of all of this, the only thing that I am angry/annoyed about is our failure so far to give Cork a new contract given that his current one expires in 10 months. Now there is a guy who wants to play for the shirt. And Christ does he play well in it, given his limited ability.

Oh, and we made £2m from Pochettino leaving for Spurs.

And we have so far spent about £18m of that. About £10m on Tadic, and about £8m on Pelle.

Koeman has joined us from the Dutch league, and so he has brought the league's best playmaker (Tadic) and best goalscorer (Pelle) with him. (Or so I am led to believe, I've never seen either play before).

I don't think so. Tommo was in y/days squad too.

But that was before we conceded 340 to Derbyshire, and only gave 9 overs to Briggs and Dawson combined. From those two, you're expecting at least 15 overs.

Khawaja, Davies †, Prince, Brown, Horton*, Croft, Clark, White, Ali, Parry, Jarvis

That's a reasonable Lancs side, but nothing too scary. No Buttler, no Chapple, no Khan. Not a bowling attack which scares me - but then you can say about our bowling attack too.

this is the one that puzzles me. I'm not sure what he gains from a move to Liverpool (is it?), because he might not play anything like as often as he would at Southampton, nor do I see what you guys get out of it.

Pundits are always going on about footballers only wanting to play football, yet so many seem to move to clubs where they won't play because of the money.

Seems to me that footballers just want to make money and playing regularly is a happy accident

He's a scouser. Big Liverpool fan, used to be on their books as a kid. They released him as a teenager, and his whole career since then (including all five levels of professional league football in England) has pretty much been about proving them wrong.

Now his career has come full circle, and he finally gets to realise his childhood dream of walking out in a Liverpool shirt at Anfield. So far removed from it being about money. I wish him all the best. We couldn't deny him the chance.
