Terrific performance by the Bears today :) although having listened to the commentary all day, Durham sounded absolutely woeful!

Ajmal has played 9 CC matches and is only 2 points shy of 2000 FL points. The only reason that I didn't pick him was that I knew he wouldn't play a full season. Sadly for me (and for Red who replaced him at the last minute) 2000 points would be a fine total for someone who had played all 16 matches.

Not surprising news but confirmation that Graeme Smith won't return to Surrey next year and has effectively retired from first class cricket.http://www.surreymirror.co.uk/Graeme-Sm ... story.html
Wonder if his knee will allow him to play any IPL cricket.Don't remember seeing much of him in that tournament but he surely must have played before?

Graeme Smith: Surrey batsman will not return because of injury

Batsman Graeme Smith will not return to Surrey next season after failing to recover from a knee injury.

The former South Africa captain, who signed a three-year deal with Surrey in 2012, fractured his right knee in May.

He had an operation but has been advised by doctors that he will not be able to "fulfil the day-to-day duties of a full county season".

Smith, 33, retired from international cricket in March after 117 Test appearances.

He only played three first-class games for Surrey last season because of an ankle injury.

EDIT, just seen CaptainCollys comment...guess his career is over.

Unless he wants to/is able to play in the various t20 tournaments but that's unlikely according to cricinfo.

He played for the Rajistan Royals in the IPL back in 08-09ish, and played in the same side as Warne and Mascarenhas, but I dont recall him being there since.

Back from Scarbados, pitch contains a tinge of green and has plenty of bounce and carry.

John Simpson with an impressive century for Middlesex, coming in at 11-4. Rather unfortunate to have got run out but didn't expect the demon arm from Adil Rashid going for the 2nd run.

For Sussex Craig Cachopa has 52 runs including 12 boundaries. Luke Wright 52 runs and 10 boundaries. That's the way to do it.
