Our form is starting to dip in all forms of the game now and with Abbott off our bowling attack will resemble last season's which just wasn't good enough to bowl sides out twice in the CC. Got my negative hat on right now and am preparing myself for missing out on promotion, falling at the t20 quarter final stage and bombing in the 50 over competition.

Couldn't care about the latter two but missing out on promotion in CC will be a massive disappointment.

At least if we hold out for a draw tomorrow we will retake second place.

Infact with Glos at 400 odd for 4 it will be a bloody disgrace if we can't bat out the day tomorrow after Glos declare.

In a small way, I don't mind being in this position, needing to bat out the day tomorrow is a good test and keeps you on your toes, stops complacency etc.

Last time it happened was against Worcs, and look what happened in our next game against Essex.

They certainly need some inspiration from somewhere moving forward. Holding out for a draw would be a start but we should do it. However, our middle order is a worry, Vince, Gatting, and Wheater aren't inspiring much confidence in their batting right now.

Looking ahead Dawson and Maxwell in for Gatting and Abbott I guess.

I'd also bring in Wood for Balcs.

OR Wood for Briggs and bowl Maxwell/Daws/Smith/Carbs as the spinner.

Rough on Briggs but I think its the better option, especially after Balcombes 60 odd in this game.

Still doesn't look like an attack that can do the business though.

I think people need to get over this belief that Maxwell is an option with the ball these days. We've hardly thrown the ball to him, there has to be a reason for that.

We batted out a draw against Worcs. We batted out a draw against Surrey. I have ever faith that we will bat out a draw tomorrow, especially given that Gloucs have scored over 300 runs on this wicket today.

Carberry
Adams
Dawson
Vince
Smith
Maxwell
Ervine
Wheater
Wood
Briggs
Tommo

That's an excellent batting line-up, but terribly short on bowling. Ervine as first change?! Somehow we'd have to make room to fit Coles or Balcombe in - Ervine arguably looks the most likely from a batting perspective, but then again it's not like Coles or Balcombe have bowled much better than Ervinwe. And I'd take Slug's batting over theirs any day.

Thanks for everything Pothas. You'll be missed. My nickname for you was apt and I will never forget it. For the last time, arise Sir Nic.

to my memory, Maxwell has bowled 7 FC overs this season and got 2 wickets, hard to criticise that

Lets hope that we can get back to making some decent first innings totals with Dawson and Maxwell in the side, so that if our bowling attack can't do the business then at least we can secure decent bonus points added to 5 points from the draw. If we do draw the game today and then draw the remaining five with say an average of 12 points that will give us a final total of 216 points which in recent history is enough to get promotion.

Not sure what's more boring, this game or the test match.

Surrey's purple patch surely can't last much longer either, they'll probably revert back to normal form soon.
