Why have we promoted Smith up to bat in the powerplay, when we want to get off to a flyer?

Why have we dropped Wheater for Bates?

Why is Shah sitting on the sidelines?

Why are sending Maxwell out only after we are two or three down, in the knowledge that he could get out any ball?

Why are batting Wood up at 7?

And should we not consider taking Vince out of the firing line first up, considering his sudden run of horror form in this format?

Any way, this game is long gone. Bye bye home QF.

Two options for me. Either:

Carberry, Adams, Maxwell, Shah, Vince, Smith, Wheater, Wood, Coles, Abbott, Briggs

or

Carberry, Adams, Maxwell, Shah, Smith, Ervine, Wheater, Wood, Coles, Abbott, Briggs

And on a positive note Ervine has a chance to score to some runs again......oh shite he's out n all.

Burning the wickets of the power hitters early on is one thing. But to bat Smith, the guy who can rebuild an innings, at no.4 and burn his wicket early too was just idiotic.

Can it get any worse? :dunno

Are Somerset playing out of their skins or are we repeating our "form" against Surrey?

Hopefully a home display like this will lead to some sort of shake-up/hard look at themselves before the next T20 game.
Let's hope this form isn't carried into the CC match v Glos.

Oh for some good news - a Maxwell 50 or 80 with loads of sixes will do!

KP out for 10 was yesterday's good news! I doubt that Cook was sorry to hear about Warne's hand especially after all the criticism he received & tehn it turned out that Warne had barely been at the game1
Now Strauss has got into hot water calling KP something he shouldn't while on Sky yesterday - I've just read his latest autobiography from the library & Strauss comes over as a pretty calm & self-assured guy so KP can certainly rub people up the wrong way!

Now Hants have lost another wicket - souldn't they just play calm & steady at the beginning???

So much for a Maxwell 50 or 80¬ :)

Just double figures would be nice!

There is history on our side, should we finish 3rd or 4th (ie get an away QF).

When we won it in 2010 and 2012, having not dominated the group, we had away QFs.

When we lost at Finals Day in 2011 and 2013, having absolutely dominated our group, we had home QFs.

Maxwell was a success at 3 in the IPL, moved to 4 and struggled, BAT HIM AT 3.

I only really care about the LVCC, so not going to ruin my day.

Exactly. I was never particularly happy to see him at 4, but I accepted. Dropping him to 5 is just sooo wrong.

We don't have McKenzie's vast experience, and calm head, in the middle order. We now don't have Shah's vast experience, and calm head, in the middle order.

I don't know if it was Vince, Benkenstein, or White's decision to drop him, but whoever made it has got it badly wrong. You can't win matches with big hitters alone. Ervine has had the opportunity to fill that role, but with the exception of against Kent two days, he simply hasn't taken it.

I know he wasn't smashing the ball around at a SR of 170, but it doesn't matter. That isn't the role of the experienced, calm head. We have numerous other batsmen in our XI who should, at least on paper (Ervine, Wheater, cough cough), be able to smash it around.

Ajmal will therefore miss Worcs' CC matches at home to Leicester and away to Gloucs. If Antigua make the final, we will also miss their home game against Gloucs. In addition to that he'll miss the end of the t20 group stage, and the vast majority of Worcs one day matches. The latter very much impacts on us, as Worcs are in our group. Our match against them (you only play each other once) is down here on 11 August. So it looks likely that he'll miss that one.

They're also going to be without Moeen for most of the summer.

Other players who will feature in the CPL who are currently playing in the t20 over here are KP, Sammy, Kevin O'Brien and Shaoib Malik. Oh, and our very own (well, not any more) Neil McKenzie.

Well my hopes of us including Shah are now dashed. It's been confirmed that he too is off to play in Caribbean Premier League.

Can't say I blame him to be honest.

Maybe thats why he has been dropped, because he had already decided to go ??

Just curious mate, where/when was this confirmed as I can't find anything on it except him entering the draft?
