Hope the rain stays away as some games are yet to start tonight & others are already abandoned.

I checked the forecast for Canterbury, sunny all evening apparently. Hissing it down here.

I tune in again and 3 wickets go down. I'm off.

When we play Wheater, we seem to end up with too many wickets left in the last five overs, and end up wasting them.

When we drop Wheater, we lose early wickets and end up with the tail having to face a fair few overs. Yes it is a decent tail, but you can't rely on any of them. They're bowlers who can give it a swing.

Thanks for everything Pothas. You'll be missed. My nickname for you was apt and I will never forget it. For the last time, arise Sir Nic.

Bates in at number nine. A whole two places below Abbott.

Nice to know that we can afford such luxuries with our WKT.

Coles picking up the pace. Hope for a good final over.
Commentators reckon Hants are a batsman light although one has just said that Hants maybe a bowler light!

173-9

Not actually a bad score that, especially given that Kent are without Rob Key. Kudos to Slug at last.

Yet again we've found a different way to get to around 170 without our batting really firing.

Not sure if its a good score, i guess Canterbury is a high scoring ground, suggest we're going to have to bowl and field well to get the win. We are good at defending a total of this kind though.

Kent's batting line up (Stevens aside) and our bowling attack says to me that it's a good score.

The fact that we managed to get to it despite losing nine wickets along the way says to me that it's not. Just think what we'd have scored had one or two of our top four hung around for 25 - 30 balls?

Ervine did well tonight - I haven't been a big fan of his T20 campaign but credit where it's due. It looks like the early batsmen thought it would end up as a 5 over slog, the way they went for it & got out at the beginning. Coles played well after Ervine had gone to keep the runrate ticking over.
The commentators seem convinced that Bates is the better keeper - I always thought there wasn't much between him & Wheater as keepers, discounting the batting.

Surrey made 165-4 against Essex. Would be nice to win here so that we close the gap on the loser.

Key was the only Kent player to score any runs in the reverse fixture so his absence is a bonus as Brendy says. Could do with Stevens going cheaply.

Good start 8/1 after 2 overs.

Gloucs-Sussex is also an important game, in terms of qualification.

If we win and so do Gloucs, we will be six points clear of 5th, with only a maximum of eight points left to play with. Sussex 6 down, needing 30 off 3.
