It must be rare for Hants to have had such a good day & to be in such a commanding position with 2 days (of decent weather as well) to go.
Vince double ton.
Vince first in country to 1000 FC wins & a place in Playfair & Wisden next year.
Smith 100.
Vince/Smith 300 partnership.

Hopefully at least some will be achieved?

In fact ALL of these targets were achieved.

It was reported on Teletext that this win by Hants was the SECOND largest ever in the CC by runs.
Unfortunately Wisden doesn't record the largest although it gives the ten biggest by runs but none are in the CC - most are in Australia or the sub-continent.

However, in 1888 Surrey defeated Sussex by AN INNINGS & 485 RUNS!!!

One fact that does not appear to have been picked up on is that all 7 (seven) Hants bowlers who bowled yesterday picked up at least one wicket each! Surely a rare occurrence?

Leics starting to subside.....99/4. So looks like Worcs will win and be on 138 1pt behind Hants.

I haven't noticed we got any deductions for a slow over rate. Is that confirmed?

Need to start keeping an eye on Surrey and Glamorgan, the gap between third and us is the most important one.

Think they'd have been notified of any deduction by now so looks like we're ok. Worcs have just this minute got Leics ao for 169.

Like I said yesterday, I think it was only the scoreboard that said we were behind, its umpires discretion whether to report it or not. We only bowled about 82 overs, with 20 wickets falling and about 2mins between each wicket + drinks breaks for the heat, it never felt like we were bowling slowly.

Yeah, it doesn't bother me if we finish 1st or 2nd. It's not like it's the County Championship title.

1st would be nice, of course. But it's all about promotion. So it's all about that gap to third.

Quite convincingly too, if NRR comes into play.

There is a trophy for winning it and an honour on the list. It's worth playing for surely.

I think you'll win it too.

It must be a Southampton/Bournemouth thing to settle for 2nd then.
