Foster - reputed to have been offered the Hants captaincy a couple of years ago - may have a point to prove!

135/8. But what's this the commentators are saying about having to back-paddle to up the over rate before Essex are all out?

They are saying we have to make up one over quickly? Are Essex going to sacrifice their last wicket so Hants get docked?

Ok so we've won but not sure how many points if any Hants are to be docked. They say short of 1 over so that would be 1 point if anything?

If we do get docked one point our total of 20 seems a very poor return for such a complete demolition. We should get the 3 points that Essex gained because they were so bad.

Now remains to be seen if Leics can bat all day tomorrow to save their game and deprive Worcs of 11 points.

I wonder if any of the Durham bean counters have been keeping an eye on Will Smith's Hampshire career?

and if they have, are they happy that they made the right decision?

A massive win!
Biggest win last year in runs in CC was 318 (Warwicks v Durham).
346 runs in Test by England v Australia.
541 runs by Notts v Durham MCCU.

Largest runs margin by Hants that I can find is 361 v Cambridge Uni in 1984
& 349 v Somerset in CC in 1913!!!

However there have been 10 wins by more than 550 runs with the best being by 685 runs by New South Wales in 1929-30.
Another 10 victories by margins of 500-549.

Even this is dwarfed by the astonishing victory by Railways (Pakistan) in a FC match in 1964-65 who won by AN INNINGS & 851 RUNS!!!

Hants' win was the biggest for 2 years since Punjab defeated Sind by 511 runs.

Our best day of the season has become our best two days of the season.

Crushing, absolute crushing.

Come on, admit it. After scoring 286, who thought that by itself would ultimately be sufficient to win this match?!

Brilliant from Abbott (not to mention Smith), but double centuries don't come along too often, so Vince gets my MOTM.

Isn't the over-rate down to the umpires to make a complaint ??

Given the nature of the heat and the wicket clearly favoring seam, I doubt 1 over will be a big deal, also constant wickets falling slows the game down.
