Actually, I've got that all wrong. I'm assuming that once Dawson is back, Maxwell makes way for Abbott again (I'm guessing you'd keep Maxwell though, based on that top 7). Which means that Balcombe or Coles can make way.

I was forgetting that during the opening, Briggs-less, games we had Gatting in the team. So once Dawson is back, we could effectively return to the XI but with Briggs in for Gatting.

Thanks for everything Pothas. You'll be missed. My nickname for you was apt and I will never forget it. For the last time, arise Sir Nic.

He misses the away Essex four day game starting on July 13th (our last four day game before the break for one-day cricket), followed by the final two t20 group games and first three 50 over group games which immediately follow the Essex game.

Apparently Ervine couldn't watch whilst Maxwell was batting because of some of the audacious shots he was playing. Says alot really, Slug generally has nerves of steel.

Tomorrow's squad is as expected. I'm guessing we'll be unchanged, so Coles and Bates will again miss out.

I would like to see us rack up slightly more than 170 this time though, because the eight overs from Smith/Ervine/Maxwell. One of these days those eight overs will finally go the distance, and suddenly 170 doesn't become enough.

Good news - Dimi was the only one who knew how to get him out. Briggs playing is massive - hope he reminds Mrs Briggs she owes him one after he had to miss the CB final for their wedding!

She's got a lot to answer for this Mrs Briggs. Organising a wedding to stop your propspective husband from playing in potentially one of the biggest games of his life and then giving birth when we are trying to save a crucial game against fellow promotion hopefuls. What next is she going to stop him playing every other friday evening because she fancies a night out with the girls and he has to look after the sproglet. He needs to wrestle those trousers back fast while their relationship is still in its infancy!

Wow, I hadn't realised that we haven't lost an away group t20 game since 2011.
