Excellent pre-lunch session. Hopefully Vince will have a good knock later; his nemesis Mitchell is going well (yet) again!

Not always the case though, sometimes when you've been sat padded up for so long it can have an adverse affect, I remember Macca getting a 2nd ball duck at Basingstoke on a flat pitch after Carbs and Lumb battered 250 odd in next to no time.

Important innings this for Gatting. On the assumption that Carberry wont be involved in the test series vs SL, we're going to have to make a decision after this game as to whether it's Gatting or Bates who makes way for Carberry. You can make a strong case either way right now.

Thanks for everything Pothas. You'll be missed. My nickname for you was apt and I will never forget it. For the last time, arise Sir Nic.

When Carbs is back, I hope Smith goes to 3 ( until Daws is fit ), I like him high up the order.

Its Bates then.

What an appalling record Gatting has at the Rosebowl this season.

We need Dawson to be fit again before Vince gets called up by England.
