Trying to work out Derbyshire's decision for that. I know their strength (if you can call it that) is in their seam department, rather than their spin. But at the Rose Bowl, you'd still surely want to bat first. Even more so with the current risk of damp, overcast conditions on day four (which could be the case if the weather is poor, but not actually raining).

Ian O'Brien on twitter ( who follows Derby around ), says the pitch looks fresh.

Probably looked a bit fresh at the toss but an hour or so in the sun will dry it out very quickly. Derby will have to hope for early wickets or it could be a tiring day in the field for them.

Gatting should be able to make a few runs today, perfect start and a great day for batting should ease the pressure on him a bit.
