Good point, well made.

At the end of the day, NONE of us know what happened, and we probably never will.

There will be a contrast of opinions and "facts" that come out over the next few years, some will sound more plausible than others, and everyone will have their own "truth".

What we do know is KP is gone and not coming back, and it should be left alone now.

They believe that if the public was better informed, they would come round to the ECB's way of thinking. They are concerned with the image of their brand and want to stamp out thought that undermines it.

This happens a lot with the Tories. When there is public opposition to one of their bills, they think it is because the public needs educating to understand why the bill is necessary. It is a symptom of an unyielding arrogance.

I don't mind a debate about the ECB/KP but can we leave politics to another thread in the appropriate place - some of us have quite different views on the latter.

Well this is a live issue, partly because the ECB are making it so. And we should know what has happened, because they keep telling us. We haven't heard KP's version, apart from to answer a specific point made in Downton's last interview.

Regarding it being all done with, this isn't just about KP. And to be fair, i started this thread to discuss the behaviour of the ECB. I'm not encroaching onto different threads.

KP has actually made subtle comments on twitter, like when Gooch was sacked.

It's a well known fact that people tend to vote more for things they are against than what they are for. Those figures can probably be safely ignored.

In a meeting of a cricket lover's society in Lancashire, immediately after the sacking, a straw poll of those attending produced a 75% vote that the ECB had done the right thing.

And therefore probably with a higher level of ignorance over the details and probably mostly the same people who think it worthwhile to vote in a TV poll to say who they think is going to win a particular game - not the deepest thinkers about the sport.

This does a good job of collating the comments coming out of the dressing room. It think it's fair to say it doesn't look like dead batting to keep the press at bay.

No it doesn't. It is one-sided and relies too heavily on comments made either when Pietersen was in the team or during the contractual restrictions upon comments. It reads like it was written by a fan, like much on here.

Such an unpopular guy in the dressing room, such an unpopular guy with the coach, with the captain, apparently with the true fans like the Lancs cricket fans forum (who's isolated opinion against the biggest cricket site in the world must mean unified support for his sacking), with the ECB itself, who are so sure that its the right decision they keep telling us.....

I wonder, with all that considered, why any player would consider saying he was a nice guy would fear any repercussions.... remember, Downton told us no one supported him.....

And this is after he was sacked. I dont think a confidentiality clause can stop people from saying "I didnt like him".

No it can't, but thinking about it a little more deeply, though, why would a player deliberately say anything that would be bound to upset some people? Any player's agent would advise strongly against that.

Why? KP was the demon of the dressing room, everyone hated him, all the public apparently hated him...... if that was true, it wouldnt have mattered.

Or, alternatively, that was all nonsense, and people actually quite liked him
