96 all out, EVERY player contributed, Bates was the weakest link, but thats always a harsh thing to say about a WK, as he may of been fantastic behind the stumps.

Superb win by Hants - did the batting on by Hants influence the result at all? It may have made Leics underestimate the wicket. It may also have made the winning total that much larger so they felt under more pressure.

Excellent performance by Hampshire. I don't want to jinx things with bold predictions but obviously a continuation of this form will lead to promotion.
I just hope Durham don't go on a dismal run, would be infuriating if the 2 sides were still in different divisions next year.

There were definitely pros and cons for batting on this morning. We shall never know if the game would have finished any earlier with an overnight declaration as it would have been a different series of events. Suffice to say it was the right decision in the end as we won the game. Hurrah.

A wins a win, if we hadn't of batted and it had of gone the same way, we would of won BEFORE lunch, to bowl a side out in 1 session is extremely rare.

Not just the wickets, but his batting has been remarkable for about 18 months now. He averaged 27 with the bat last year and 46 this season ( albeit after only 1 game )

I think it was in 2012 he batted for 20 overs at 11 with Jimmy Adams to secure a draw. Whilst hes not going to be classed as an "all-rounder", hes worth his weight in gold with the bat. His career average of 14 will quickly rise.

Hes meant to be, but SA have a tour starting end of June/start of July that he may be called up for.

If he is then Maxwell will remain with us for the rest of the season.

Praying Abbott is not inured

From what they said on commentary he isn't "injured" has a slight bruised heel, he can bowl if needed, but at this point there is no point in forcing him to bowl for the sake of it.

I'm wrong, its Coles who has a sore heel, why Abbott didn't bowl is undisclosed.

I said we didn't need to declare last night. And nor was I bothered about us batting on this morning.

It's a day four pitch against Leicester (with all due respect). If we couldn't take ten wickets in 90 overs, we wouldn't exactly have been deserving of promotion. Unless, as I said last night, the pitch was still a belter. And in the case, declaring last night (or over night) would have been near suicidal.

Real team effort that. As Smith pointed out on twitter, no-one scored 100 and no-one took a five-fer. And yet we still crushed them in the end, and pretty much had the upper hand for the whole match.

Ten games left, and potentially as few as three more wins could be enough. Ideally you'd be aiming for five or six more though, to be sure.
