@brainhaldorf: A pitch panel will consider this Trent Bridge track at end of the match after ECB pitch inspector Tony Pigott visited this afternoon.

Doesn't sound good. Usually they visit and immediately say no action will be taken. Looks like there may be an issue with this one.

That's what I was thinking. If there's another clatter of wickets in the morning it could be a double whammy for Notts-defeat & also docked points. Though batting doesn't seem to have been too difficult late today.

Must say I think it would be harsh to penalise any team for pitch preparation at this stage of the season particularly with so much rain prior to the game. And if you're going to have pitch inspectos let's have properly qualified people doing it i.e. retired groundsmen and not retired players.

I have a terrible feeling that Ian Bell's period of captaincy is going to end badly unless his bowlers pull off something very special. Two losses and a poorly played run chase v Lancs would not look good on his CV despite his own excellent form.
Notts are clearly in a good position needing only 174 runs with still a strong middle order available to bat.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

Three down though. Bell apart, the batters have struggled. Warks have a celebrated attack and it's cloudy in Nottingham. Surely Notts won't make these runs.

I think the first hour will be crucial for both teams, if wickets don't fall that 49 yard boundary will favour scoring.

Fair enough. If wickets don't fall in the first hour, Notts come into the game. But wickets should fall at an overcast TB in April.

Thats Notts lost then, and they will/should get a points deduction.

Rashid out. Yorks will want plenty with Middx batting being strong. 450?

Warks wrap up a deserved win, mind you the difference was that century innings by Bell.

Now we await the verdict of the pitch panel. I agree with westoelad-would be very harsh to impose a penalty on an early season pitch.
