James Vince in full flow is heaven.

He started last season well too though, so it's important that he keeps it going this time. Especially with no Macca, and the future risk of no Carberry.

Thanks for everything Pothas. You'll be missed. My nickname for you was apt and I will never forget it. For the last time, arise Sir Nic.

Excellent morning session, well on course for maximum batting points. With all the expected rain around the only probable objective left will be to achieve the three bowling points.

The covers are on and the rain is pouring at The Ageas Bowl. The afternoon session will be delayed. Hopefully it's just a shower!

Be interesting if the rain (today and over the course of the rest of the match) increases the likelihood of a draw, or actually helps to force a result (most likely in our favour).

Theoretically, if enough play takes place, the ball could move all over the place, maybe resulting in say us collapsing to 350ao, but Surrey then following the likes of Lancs/Notts/Northants etc and getting shot out for about 140 and having to follow on.

I don't think there will be enough time for that too happen, we would have to be bowling tonight, and any play today is unlikely.

Hampshire have won fewer home championship matches (six) in the last five years than any other county.

Interesting, yet non-surprising stat.

Weather forecast suggests light rain throughout tomorrow, but potentially no rain on Wednesday.

Impressive start to the season from Vince. If the bowers can back up the batting Hampshire look a very good side this year.
