Yes, unfortunately Vince rarely seems to do himself many favours when he plays for the Lions. But then again, doing well for the Lions hardly seems a prerequisite of getting into the England team these days.

He will play one day cricket for England one day, for certain. That may not be this summer though. As for test cricket, well he can only keep on churning out the runs. But I don't see a call up in the short term, at the very least.

Maybe he struggles with spin as the last A Tour was in Sri Lanka? I don't know, hence I asked. Do you get many turners in Hampshire at the moment to test him?

I guess his performance could be classed as disappointing, as by memory quite a few players came away from that tour with hundreds

Safe to say that since Tahir - and since that ridiculous points deduction for a turning pitch - there has been little opportunity to practice facing spin at the Rose Bowl. Briggs is all about accuracy and changes of pace.

I don't think it's particularly a spin thing though. Didn't the Lions have a one day series against Australia A relatively recently too, and I think Vince performed poorly in that too.

He did, and did fairly poorly.

Yeah he did. These innings aren't listed on his First Class record so I didn't see them.

Wheater has finally given into his hand injury (which he picked up about an hour before tea) and been replaced by Smith behind the stumps.

Daws strikes, 7 down, not sure why Abbott is bowling ( despite a wicket not long ago ), would rather have Daws&Carbs and save Abbott for the new ball

Nice progression of the game in our favour throughout the day. Hopefully we can wrap it up early in the morning session tomorrow.
