Not so much digging in, more motoring along. Keep this scoring rate up, and we could end the day with a small lead.

Smith out for a solid 41

Gatting off the mark with his first Hants run.

We've got deep enough batting to pull it off.

Yes, by all accounts Abbott is handy with the bat, and he's down at no.10. In recent times, he'd have been no.8 in our line-up no doubt.

I do get the feeling that we've seen how deep Yorkshire and Northants have both batted in recent seasons, and both been promoted off the back of it, and decided to try and follow suit. The only issue with that is that our "all-rounders" are not as good with the ball as theirs. (But if Tommo and Abbott keep on taking nine wickets between them, it wont matter).

I'm wondering what they'll do if Gatting doesn't perform. Do they bring back in Balcombe or perhaps try a different batsmen from the 2nds?

Well once he's fit, I'd imagine they'd bring Wood in. But until then, who knows. If they do want to stick with a batsmen, Terry would be next in line. And he did alright at the back end of last year.

It's just been announced that our following matches will be live on Sky this season:

NatWest T20 Blast:

Thursday 5 June: Hampshire v Kent (The Ageas Bowl)
Wednesday 25 June: Glamorgan v Hampshire (SWALEC Stadium)
Sunday 6 July: Hampshire v Somerset (The Ageas Bowl)
Tuesday 22 July: Essex v Hampshire (Chelmsford)

Royal London One-Day Cup:

Wednesday 13 August: Essex v Hampshire (Chelmsford)

Listening to the Hants radio commentary and one guy sets quiz questions but had never heard of J. Edger Hoover.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.
