Yep. Balcombe did himself no favours in that Worcs match, and neither did Gatting. Likewise, I don't see the need of going in with a five man seam attack of Abbott, Tommo, Coles, Balcombe and Ervine. With Vince and Dawson in support. One of those five will invariably end up bowling very few overs (or if they all do bowl their fair share, it'll be because Gloucs end up racking up a massive score).

Thanks for everything Pothas. You'll be missed. My nickname for you was apt and I will never forget it. For the last time, arise Sir Nic.

Slight surprise that we've again gone with only three natural bowlers. Presumably we didn't feel that they'd be anything in the wicket for Briggs (which is understandable, given that it's April).

As I've said before, an attack of Tommo, Abbott, Coles, and Balcombe, supported by Ervine and Vince, would be a bit of seam overload.

And there is Tommo's 300th wicket.

I dis-agree with you today Brendy, Balcs is a solid bat ( arguably as good as Gatting ) and would afford our other seamers shorter, sharper spells.

Unless he needs 2nd XI game time.

Before anyone ( myself included ) over-reacts, remember Northants last season, they drew ALOT of games and got promoted by not losing many.

It would help if we could catch. We dropped Tavare twice in that morning session.

Bit of a negative decision to field first with the weather like it is.

I am still trying to work out why he bowled, although had we batted and been skittled like both Warks and Essex have, we'd be complaining too.

If we'd just taken one of those catches off Tavare, we'd be in a solid position here. Wouldn't appear to be too much batting after Will Gidman.
