Excellent start for the Sussy's. Middlesex have some serious work to do. We defended 108 or 112 or something against them in 2012, and it sparked the great revival, so they have a bit of form when it comes to collapses. I've said it before, If you can get past Rogers and Robson, there's nowt left.

I don't think Malan/Dexter or Morgan are bad First Class players, but I do agree, hey lack maybe one more batsman who can score over 45 per innings.

The bowling attack is pretty special though

Very good result. I don't like to make some statements this early in the year, but I felt coming into this season we potentially have a chance. It all depends on international call ups and injuries though, and whether or not the Hove pitch dries up in the height of summer like it has done in the past. I think we suit green wickets with our current attack, and low scoring wickets is what I expect to see a lot of this year down our way.

From a batting perspective, Nash/Wells/Yards/Machan/Joyce/Rory/Wright/Brown and Prior, if we get him, is as good as any complete unit in the league, assuming it stays fit, and that Yorkshire lose more than one of their guys to regular call ups.

The bowling of Jordan/Magoffin/Lewis/Anyon/Piolet may struggle on dead wickets with little pace and movement, and after losing our premier spinner we lack anything in that department, assuming Will Beer never progresses (like he hasn't done forever now) and Rippon hardly plays. Hopefully England ignore Jordan's existence for another year, and Lewis and Magoffin can stay fit at their ages.

Fair to say, if we end up with Chris Liddle bowling in a 4-day game, we may as well give up on any hope of winning anything

The annoying thing is, with a fit and focused Monty in this line up, we would have a perfect balance squad....
