The only thing that needs sorting out in the bowling department is a replacement spinner, the pace attack of Anderson, Broad, Bresnan and Stokes picks itself. Would rather England come up with a sturdy batting line up before doctoring the bowling attack.

Bresnan dosen't pick himself at all, not anymore.. I hope they give Borthwick an extended run..... (because then we can have Monty at Chelmsford ;)

Would rather have Tom Craddock in the England squad, a leg spinner who can actually get purchase on the ball.

Good match for Woakes, leading wicket taker and top scorer, as England near an emphatic win.

Yorkshires Liam Plunkett knocks over the tail and England win.

Useful display for Moeen with four wickets and a 50.

Cook & Bell are certainties, as I suspect is Morgan - he's presumably been given strong hints judging by his recent decision. Who else will feature in the top five?

I can't believe England are actually using an A tour in Asia as an judge for selection.

Presumably on an A tour they pick players who are considered as possibilities for the senior squad
-or at least are at the next tier below. What's the point of it otherwise? Doesn't mean that they are judging them solely on their tour performances. At least it gives them experience of playing in foreign parts. I suspect the judges are more likely to be on here and in the media.

If Bresnan doesn’t pick himself, it’s almost certain that the selectors will pick him.

Borthwick is very much a work in progress and I hope Panesar plays a lot of cricket for Essex this year.

With a dearth of decent spinners, we may see all test pitches prepared for seam this summer. We don’t have to play a spinner.

Not for test cricket, surely? A certainty not to be picked, perhaps?

Well he's already met Downton and subsequently dropped out of the IPL auction - I'd say that's a pretty big pointer.

If Downton has told Morgan that a place *could* be available *if* he scores runs for Middlesex, then fair enough. But there shouldn't be any promises being made. It should all be on the condition of scoring runs in the Country Championship and showing that he has the game to play the long innings and the moving ball.
