it appears Bressy lad is already sorely missed, he would have clearly had the 3rd seamer's spot had he been fit!

The last I heard, quite a while ago, Bresnan hadn't been ruled out for the Brisbane test. Certainly, Finn and Tremlett seem to have done nothing to suggest they should take the spot.

Running out of time before Brisbane I think ...even if fit he wouldn't really have got the bowling in to be ready for a Test match.
Reckon the best hope is he will be able to get back for the last two or three matches. A very useful reinforcement for the attack then - as he proved to be last time ! Probably be better suited to the pitches in those games anyway so having him fresh then may prove a blessing in disguise.

Would love to see Bresnan come in for Trott and bat at seven, that way England have a 5 man bowling attack whilst still having a decent batting line up.

Wouldn’t that mean Prior at #6 though? Dodgy.

Prior would benefit batting at 6, knowing that he has some reliable coming in next.

He's had that before when he's been at 7 and Bresnan at 8.

Good to see Bresnan back on the field, and also England doing something sensible giving him a four day game to prove his fitness not a two day game.

Yes, it would seem to indicate they want Bresnan to have a good work-out for some reason, M_S. By all accounts, he's done OK so far.

Three day game, though good point. I doubt the Queensland seconds team is better than the XI playing in Alice Springs though.

The starting Queensland attack included only two bowlers out of seven with a first class wicket - and these two had two wickets each. Annoying that Vince, Chops and Hales failed twice.

Last year i was of the view that Bresnan deserved a spot in playing 11.Howeversince he lost fitness due to injury he has been below par.Might be dropped once again when they select the 11 for next test. Also,Ben has already bettered Bresnans top scored in first test whereas Bresnan has no ton.So Ben will now be a preffered candidate to be developed as all rounder .

If Stokes is kept in, but not as a number six, then Bresnan may struggle to keep his place. On the flip side, Stokes may be seen as a number six, which will be helpful for Bresnan, Finn, or whoever.
