A single European competition would revive the League and FA Cup.

I'd still have a two cup competition, but merge the qualifying and group stages as a single entity.

Currently there are 48 teams in Europa League group stage and 32 in Champions League group stage.

84 teams in European group stage, 12 groups of 7 playing each other once (6 games)
Top 2 and 8 best 3rd place sides qualify for the Champions Cup knockout stages (32 teams qualify)
The 4 remaining 3rd and teams finishing 4th qualify for the Europa Cup knockout stages (16 teams qualify)

Round of 32 Champions Cup played first, winners through to Round of 16 whilst losers enter the Europa Cup Round of 32.

Money is obviously at the root of all this.

English teams have commented that there isn't much money in the Europa League and it just gets in the way of the domestic season.

Making it a 64 team competition is just going to dilute it for me. But then I'm from an age when Wednesday night highlights on Sportsnight was all you got when it came to European games bar the final.

What I find pathetic is football needs a "gay hero"

Gender, colour, race or sexual orientation is irrelevant when it comes to partaking in football.

I dont think its an issue either, not amongst players anyway, fans reaction wouldnt be too pleasant though ( oppostion fans, dont think anyone gives a toss about their own players, as long as they give 100% )
