Really surprised that Samit Patel didn't get a incremental contract.

Very odd that Patel is missed out, I thought there was a points system in place, so surely he's played often enough to qualify.

Perhaps they've discovered that Samit is the brains behind the parody tweeting.

Apologies if this is common news but I hadn't seen it. The ECB have changed the qualification period for any player born overseas from four to seven years if they enter the country after their 18th Birthday.

Strikes me as discrimination personaly seeing as most of these players are British citizens.

I think this happened over a year ago. I mentioned it in the KP thread to demonstrate what people in the ECB perceive as a problem in English cricket. As well as Miller saying that he wasn't going to pick more England players born overseas. There seems likely to be a strong faction within the ECB that resents players playing for England when not born on this island.

It does seem to be discriminatory to me. I don't see why any British citizen should have to qualify, never mind making it more difficult for them to do so.
I always say that everybody's right.

What constitutes a British citizen? Is it simply having the right to obtain a British passport due to a parents birth even if they don't take up that right, or is it when they walk out of the Embassy passport in hand.

Jos Buttler has been awarded an incremental contract. Samit Patel still doesn't have one despite playing more games...

As I said before, it's scandalous treatment of Samit Patel.

It's bizzare, Samit has played test cricket in the last 12 months and has a fairly deecent chance to play in India, he's played ODI and T20 cricket yet was not awarded a contract, perhaps the offer was there but he chose to reject it?

What surprises me is that I haven't seen any media comment on this. All the concentration on KP has perhaps let this slip under the radar.
