i can understand sacking a player after a bad season but very disappointing to see that critics are jumping over Sachin after only one bad series. I saw it here on CMS in 2008/2009 and now i see it again. Sack a player only if you have better specialist batsman than Sachin not because he won't play the next world cup.

It's like asking all employees to quit jobs from current organizations right now because they will not be there after few years .

But, SRT did not have a good series in England too last summer. I am not implying that SRT should be sacked. But I think it's time we start relying less and less on him.

Even in an organization, people start handing out their responsibilities to others gradually. Steve Jobs did it.... Bill Gates did it too. No matter how big one is, one must step aside after one's day in the sun comes to an end.

Rohit seems like a promising lad... Someone who has yet to turn the hype around him in actual performance. In my opinion, he does have what it takes to be an international player! He better bring it out sooner than later

He was the highest scorer in World Cup 2011. After that super form, Commonwealth is his only series he played. Agreed he has failed as a specialist batsman in this series so far. So what. Is it going to be a norm that one bad series and a batsman will be sacked, especially for someone of Sachins skills. I agree to disagree , with many posters in this case

Like I said earlier, we need to work towards retaining WC and should start building the team for 2015. The time is now! If this means that SRT gets less ODI games and others are given opportunities, how can that be a bad strategy!

Isn't Sachin, gautam and Sehwag being rested for giving the same experience to the newcomers. Also apart from Jadeja i think all specialist batsmen have played in Australia before in either tests or ODI's. Also if preparing specialist batsmen for Australia in World cup is the argument then rest him for Australia series like they are doing right now to him. One can argue resting Sachin after every few games is also impacting Sachin's form in this series. They don't need to drop Sachin for sub con matches because other Indian specialist batsmen have enough matches elsewhere under their belt.

Commentators like Gavaskar and Shastri made noise when they rested Sachin, now that he is playing other people have started to say he should be rested. Millions of fans cannot be satisfied by the selectors. The best players should play and that's what the selectors are doing whilst resting one of sachin, gautam and Sehwag so as to give newbies the so called experience. Even then the media cringes. Good
