I see Ferdinand refused to shake Suarezs hand but isn't subject to a witch-hunt, talk about pot, kettle and black!

All it highlights is how much football and in particular the Premier League is a game based on gamesmanship and deceit. A far cry from the days where players apologise for making a bad tackle or offering a hand to a player taking a tumble.

Other sports are based on at least playing fair, even going as far as promoting sportsmanship. If football is serious of stamping out discrimination of any kind, then it should start by tackling every aspect of foul play.

I gather Rio has tweeted that Evra was wrong to do what he did at the end of the match - celebrating in front of Suarez.

I think Utd will also issue a statement accepting Suarez apology and admitting that Rio and Evra may have done things that in hindsight they shouldn't have.

Welbeck didn't want to shake Suarez's hand either. Different situation to Suarez's as they aren't on the side of the racist comments.

I bet Rio would have shaken his hand if Suarez had shaken Evra's too tbf.

My view of it was that Ferdinand reacted to a situation that was unfolding in front of him, not something that was premeditated. If someone hits you in the playground and then you hit them back then it's generally the first to strike where the blame lies. Yes you should just walk away, but sometimes you stand and fight.

If it was premeditated by Ferdinand then yes I believe he should also apologuise.

I see they have shut down the blog on BBC sports regarding Suarez. It must have gotten out of control with nearly 2000 comments on it. Nope it's back up, maybe just my computer.

Not in my book, unless it's in self-defence. Self-defence is the only excuse, not "he started it, miss".

That's why I mentioned the playground because that's what this has turned into unfortunately and the bigger picture is being missed here.

As far as your book is concerned we all write different books.

Just curious have you ever been on the end of long term racial abuse? I assure you most Africans and those that originated from there get it on a daily basis, though you may find that hard to believe it still goes on today.

You need to be in the shoes of Ferdinand and Evra to really understand what they are going through and all fans need to put aside their support of club.
It's plain and simple that Suarez has done very wrong and pushing the blame onto others is just as wrong. :facepalm

The officials need to take some blame as well. What on earth was the ref doing, talk about a bozo. It was easier to see this coming than a ending to a Scorsese film. (Don't waste your money on Hugo by the way). As soon as it happened Suarez should have been stopped by the officials and asked to shake Evras hand. Instead the ref goes to push Evra away.

Yeah, Fergie's words were a bit over the top but it's that old 'heat of the moment' thing again.

I bet he's thinking, 'why did I say that for' this morning.

Must say though, United and Fergi have throughout this sorry saga conducted themselves one would want their club to. Liverpool have alot of work to do to repair their reputation.

This is stupid, on the basis of this you can condone racism because someone else has done something bad. Also Man Utd were the ones to punish Cantona (I think) and the Rooney and Giggs affairs had nothing to do with football.
