The West Indies Tests weren't in tricky conditions.

Only 2 batsmen averaged above 50 and one of them only played one test.

That doesn't prove the conditions were difficult. It could just mean that the batsman were rubbish and out of form.

I see what you mean, his technique isn't perfect, but the amount of runs he's scored at domestic level indicates to me that he should be given a run in the test side. Sehwag's technique is hardly perfect is it? or Chanderpaul's for that matter.

Maybe you are right. There is no harm in trying him I guess but I am not convinced that he has the goods.
Kohli,Pujara,Rahane and Rohit on the other hand are good enough IMO.A pity that none of them is an opener.

Good shout on Pandey.
He is a decent back foot player from what I have seen.I remember him scoring a brilliant 144 against Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy finals a couple of years ago which brought him into serious consideration for the home series against SA in Feb 2010.He lost out to the likes of Badrinath eventually for that spot. And he couldnt follow it up with a good 2010/11 season.I dont know much about his recent form though.Last time I heard of him,he had scored a century against Mumbai earlier this season but I havent had the time to follow Ranji trophy since then.

I dont disagree with this statement, I am merely pointing out that both had decent enough series last time out, and before that you asked any Indian fan and they would all stoutly defend their right to have earnt setting their own retirement dates.
Its interesting to see that the transition in opinion
