I can just about understand Wood missing the game but there is surely no reason to rest the other England quicks. The matches against Ireland are hardly high profile must-win games. I'd have used that series to blood some youngsters.

they can't really, because the squad for the CT has been announced. They pretty much have to use the series against Ireland as a warm up series for the CT players

A target of 400 might not have been enough! Have to give full credit to the batsmen but poor from Durham to only take one wicket and never seem capable of applying any pressure. Cook dropping that catch didn't help!
Bairstow gone just now for 174 but surely far too late for Durham.

They are a formidable side with Root and Bairstow but not so sure when they're not available. Looks a fairly competative division apart from Warkwickshire.
