Expectations that were probably unrealistic considering Bayern's best three players when he took over were all on the decline
Name me three players of lahm, ribery and ribbons quality at their peak available to realistically buy???
Was Ribery and Lahm really past it in 13/14? Still had a fit Schweinsteiger, Muller, Kroos, Robben, Neuer. They all played when they lost 4-0 to Real at home. The contrast to the team that played the year before was amazing.
Pep pretty much got to choose any team in the world to manage. He chose Bayern who were the most dominant team the season before. This was the team the year before who had beaten Juventus 4-0 and Barcelona 7-0 on aggregate.
In saying all this, Bayern are back in it, and if they now go on to win this tie, then Peps record will get better[/quote]
Ribery has not started more than 30 games in a year for an age. 5 league matches this year, a handful last year, and was struggling the year before.... he also had personal matters off field with a 15 year old prostitute that guardiola walked in on. Clearly had his last world class year before
Robben similar story....never full fit, missed half the last few seasons
Lahm....not played 30 league starts under pep. Had injury troubles hence he retired from Germany in 2014
Schiensteiger was finished 18 months ago....
Kroos was sold under him nearly two years ago over a pay dispute that the chairman personally got involved with.
