England's lucky day ? Four of the seven wickets basically gifted... Kiwis were in a generous mood it seems. Nearly everyone got started , none really went on. Bethell (who was excellent catching in the cordon) must have thought it was Christmas with two wickets from filth...

Still better than I expected from that attack on a pretty flat deck : Archer maintained his pace surprisingly well - though I am not sure that long late spell and all the short stuff will be helpful to him on resumption today. Baker a very much better showing than his white ball horror shows and looks quite promising. And Fisher did a good economy job so all round the changes haven't killed them. Plus the Harry Brook cameo

We will see how this looks when England get to bat - though first need to take the last three , something they don't always do too well. New ball soon (despite wicked - though predictable - over rate yesterday. Points deduction incoming I think)

He hasn't bowled that badly especially considering he rarely bowls....get the feeling he will bowl a lot this summer given they seem to reluctant to pick Bashir and when they do he dosent bowl anyway
