Root has opened up a minute possibility, but tbh with only 34 overs left and 2 lost to the change of innings, would require about 8 an over. And Sussex aren't all out yet, so another 2-3 overs put it in the realm of fantasy even for T20 chasing.

This substitute idea surely needs to end. Lancashire lost their spinner to injury and wanted Tom Hartley to replace him- denied as not like for like because Hartley has played for England/more experienced. So they had to bring in George Bell - a wicket keeper!
Probably good for Durham but farcical nonetheless.
