Whenever I watch Adam Lyth, I think his career is completely freaky. I dont get how bowlers havent worked him out.

Maybe international bowlers did.

On the counter, watching Finley Bean bat I have no idea how he only averages low 30s. Compact, classic technique. Watches the ball well, showing patience and judging balls by their merits.... and he has pounced on anything wide or two short and dispatched it to the boundary.

Most of the time when players in CC dont have good averages its abundantly clear from their setup up why... but Bean looks solid.

I thought yesterday we got some stinking decisions, but this one takes the biscuit. Finley Bean smacks the ball straight to Tom Haines at short midwicket, Haines clearly catches the ball away from the ground, and as Sussex celebrate the umpire says he thinks it been grounded, goes for a chat with the square leg umpire who gestures back that its been caught, and then the umpire ignores him and throws the ball back to Coles and tells him to get on with it.

1 bad call happens. 2 bad calls, you can just about understand.... this clown has made now 5 total clanger decisions in 1.5 days. None of them are really disputable, he got them all clearly wrong.

The only comfort is both teams have been on the receiving end of them. But if an umpire can't see that was caught, he aint fit for refereeing under 18 2nd XI club games.

Simon Harmer has just shown not to set the tone for the day poor first over from him

Harmer really ineffective in this game just can't get it on a consistent spot Lawrence comfortable on the sweep and using his feet against him

50 for Lawrence....Noah Thain playing the enforcer role trying to bang it in and bowl short but he just simply isn't quick enough for that plan

Deficit under 200 now.....might have been worth getting snater on before thain to be honest

New ball taken which brings Sam Cook back into the attack love watching him bowl super consistent...surely has to get another crack for England, one bad test match dosent make a career he definitely tried too hard

This oval wicket isn't deteriorating at all gonna be very difficult for either side to win from here surely the Surrey bowlers don't enjoy playing here
