2026 All Year Fantasy - Declaration of Intent

Postby The Professor » Fri Dec 19, 2025 3:18 pm

It is the time of year to draw close to you those who have served you well, push away those things that have been holding you back and think about how to move forwards positively in the coming year.......no....not Christmas but instead the AYR Fantasy Team.

The premise: You have two cricketers who you adopt for the whole year come hell or high water (or paternity leave or anxiety or suspension or almost life threatening car crashes)

The players will be allocated points in the same way as before:

Batting
1 point for every run scored
A batsman scoring 50 will receive a 20pt bonus, with another 10pts for every further 50 runs scored
(ie. 50 = 20pts, 100 = 30pts, 150 = 40pts, 200+= 50pts)
A batsman scoring at least 20 runs, will receive.....
10 bonus pts for scoring at a strike rate of 80-99
20 bonus pts for scoring at a strike rate of 100-149
30 bonus pts for scoring at a strike rate of 150-199
40 bonus pts for scoring at a strike rate of 200+

Bowling
20pts per wicket
20 bonus pts for a 3fer
30 bonus pts for a 5fer
A bowler who has bowled at least 3 overs will receive.....
10 bonus pts for an economy rate of <=6.0
20 bonus pts for an economy rate of <=5.0
30 bonus pts for an economy rate of <=4.0
(ie. an ER of 4.25 scores 20pts)

Fielding
10 points per catch or stumping
20 points per run out, or 10 points each, if two players share the responsibility
10 bonus points for 3 contributions with catches, stumpings or run outs.

How to Enter

Step 1: Declare Your Status

Please post a reply to this thread by noon on the 27th with the following:

Returning Players (from 2025): Confirm you are playing again, name the one player you are keeping, and the one player you are discarding.

New Players: Simply post to confirm your entry for next year.

Step 2: Submit Your Draft List

Send me a private list of six players you want on your team. Order them from first choice to sixth choice to 6th choice. You may pick any player in the world, provided they haven’t been retained by another participant.

How the Auction Works

Once the deadline passes, we will hold a draft/auction using a "Snake" format:

Randomized Order: I will randomly generate a participant list.

Round 1: We follow the list from first to last.

Round 2: The order is reversed (the person who picked last in Round 1 picks first in Round 2).

Note: If you retained a player in Step 1, that counts as one of your selections.

Also remember, you can place your released player on your draft list in the hope of picking them up again....you just have to hope nobody gets in before you.

I think that's as clear as I ever make it.

I will send my list (for me and my Old Man to DFM to show that I'm not cooking the books. Happy picking!

Slow uptake on this

Would speculate that without the Reds trio we would not have enough interest to run this even with three picks per person.
