Agnew posts 'Stokes fought so hard'.

He batted for under an hour. Maybe your number 11 might have fought so hard to last that long, but not your number six. It was hardly a day long backs to the wall epic blockathon on a drying pitch.

Doggett and Green going for too many runs.

Not sure the Aussies are going to gain much by leaving out Lyon.

a well deserved century - but it did get interesting, didn't it?

Hopefully this will shut many Australians up, those who love to deny Root's greatness as a batsman.

Way too many. Doggett being asked to bowl outside of his bowling style, Green a bit erratic.

Starc cleaning up the other end though. This is going to end badly.

Pleased for Honest Joe. Thought the ton-in-Aus stuff was just press hype anyway, but at least we don't have to listen to it anymore.

However, England remain in dire straits.

50 last wicket partnership! Any chance the hosts woul prefer that than going out and batting for 30m in the dark?

Last partnership really swaying the day England's way. Australia leaving out Lyon hasn't ended well, the support seamers have returned nothing really.

Probably Australia's day, but England ending well.

Should be an interesting second day.

Shame an hour's worth of cricket was lost with the over rate. More than that. And that's even with the extra 30m.
