Not that any of it matters, because Hants are going to beat the champions of the last 3 years to stay safe. They were able to step up when it mattered

Essex look to have done enough to stay ahead of either us or Yorkshire, even if they lose to Somerset.

It becomes a straight fight in this game. If Durham win, Yorks go down. Any other result and Durham go down. Thank goodness there’s no rain forecast tomorrow……….. oh wait!

In a year’s time Durham might be one of the 6 ‘dead’ teams no longer in the county championship if Bostock gets his way. I’ll bet that a) that possibility didn’t occur to him when he made the idea up, and b) is unlikely to care as long as he gets his hundred team and his cut of the sale

If we manage to get out of this thanks to Surrey it will have been a miraculous- and undeserved- escape.
The way things have been going though Surrey will probably hand us a lifeline and then we'll manage to lose this game.

Exactly. Surrey game will be over quickly in the morning so either our fate will be sealed early doors or we'll have to bat out the day - it's a flat pitch according to Ben Raine so no doubt batting time won't be a problem - or it wouldn't be for a team that doesn't have the habit of batting collapses!

well, we are throwing this away

6 down for 76, still needing 53 to make Yorks bat again and still 48 overs in the day

Had we avoided relegation it would have been criminal
