I've just realised that we chose to field too

I get that, faced with uncertain weather, we wanted to take advantage of any bowling breaks that the conditions might bring, but had they considered that in doing so they risked exchanging a max 5 bonus points for a max 3 bonus points in a tight relegation run in.... only one of which was achieved anyway

I think we chose the safest option, because had we collapsed in a heap for not many runs yesterday, Worcs might have set us up for a 2 session survival exercise tomorrow and we have been sh1te at surviving anything this season, whereas bowling first meant that not taking wickets was infinitely safer than not scoring runs

maybe the decision gives us more of an insight into the levels of confidence of the side

Looks as if Worcestershire are wanting to save their bowlers for the One Day Cup final!
Still, a poor effort to say the least- if Hampshire hang on for a draw against Somerset I think we're done for.
If they lose and then fail to beat Surrey next week then a draw against Yorkshire might be enough.
My main hope now is the 12 team division one gets voted in!

pleasant enough morning in the sunshine, but it's pretty windy down at the ground

Lees got out early and for once it wasn't a chop on. They were bowling wide to give him every opportunity, but he nicked off instead. McKinney looked fine until he started to after the bowling and then he very quickly nicked off to slip. Smart catch though, low down and travelling

Gay looked in good nick in the first session and Bedders played some lovely shots..... pity it's too late in the season for him to finally come into form for our benefit

Dolly bowled one ball and collapsed in a heap. He had to be helped off the pitch, so his participation in the Lords final looks very unlikely

Ironic really, because we did seemingly offer to forfeit yesterday and Worcs turned us down flat. Their sole intent was to use this game to give their batters a lot of time in the middle, whilst resting their bowlers as much as they could ahead of their big day on Saturday

in an ideal world we need 4 batting points, then if Yoks lose to Sussex we'll be 1 point ahead of them going into the last round next week. Then with a bit of luck the whole 4 days will be wiped out and we'll survive

crikey... that's a lot of things that have to go our way, but there is one thing there that we have control over. 400 ought to be very achievable as long as we don't throw our wickets away. The Worcs bowlers will not be bending their backs today

we still have 37 overs available, so we must be getting the extra 8 overs for the rain the other day even though it's day 4

I hope we use it to grab as many batting points as we can and not shake hands at 5pm

Yorks are not going to lose, so we'd better hope that Hants do, or we'll go into the final game needing to beat Yorks. Every point will matter

looks like we can, because Rhodes has put his foot down in reaching a run a ball 139*

failure for Robbo and a run a ball 29 from Clarky to add some impetus

that's why Rhodes came in ahead of Robbo. I think Robbo's form over the last season and a half suggests that we perhaps ought to consider dropping him down to a more traditional number 7 wk role next year
