disappointing from France, because about the only times in the game where their extra player has told has been in snuffing out German counterattacks.

I'd been led to believe that France attacked strongly down the wings through Baltimore and Tony Cascarino's girl, but Baltimore didn't start and when she came on, Cascarino came off a few minutes later and so most of the French attcking has been pretty central where the German's are packed, Bacha's delivery at set pieces has been poor and so they've rather helped Germany to cope with the red card pretty admirably. Germany are disrupting everything because that's what they have do and France aren't stretching them at all. The French crowd are invisible, the German crowd highly vocal

which is okay because I've never minded a France crash out, particularly if there are tears involved

that's true of Germany too, but I do believe having watched this game that Germany would have a better chance of upsetting Spain than France.

The commo summed it up earlier, when he said that France had a good plan A, but that their plan B seemed to be to keep doing plan A and hope something sticks

I think every german aimed top right, yet the French keeper kept going the other way. When she went the right way, they were too good to stop

France didn't deserve to win tonight. Even when having to play with 10 for the best part of 2 hours, the Germans were still winning all the footraces by the end

yes Germany rode their luck, yes a lot of their play was pretty cynical, but they deserved that tonight

It ain't going to get any easier. They've lost their captain and their stand in captain to injury, had 2 players sent off so can't feature and tonight had 2 second yellows ruling them out of the SF too..... oh and the small matter of a nicely fresh Spain to play. Still....... France will wish they had those problems
